It would be hard for us to know that without having the experience of
the camera ourselves and something to compare it to. Why make the
assumption that he is convincing himself of anything? Maybe he's just
satisfied with the camera within the realm of his particular
experience. Maybe he's never tried to shoot his way out of a dark
room with a Canyon. Maybe he doesn't like to read technical reviews
(which is what he says, more or less), as they often seem to set up
arbitrary targets and standards that may or may not replicate basic
life experience.
