I believe that the common intent of the bellows system was to be used
vertically with the top of the camera facing the user. As such, when rotated
appropriately, I think everything will clear the winder.
I understand your pain, though. Olympus bodies and hex plates don't mix
well at all. You can't even use the 35/shift without jumping through hoops.
