Last night I pulled the trigger on a E-620 with the two kit lenses! I
will once again be an Olympus shooter!

After lugging a Nik*n D200 and a handful of wonderful (but hefty) Tokina
& Nikkor lenses around for two years I realized how far I have come from
my old OM gear. The Nikon setup works great, but is just plain too heavy
and bulky for my type of photography (travel, climbing, backpacking &
cycling.) This point was underlined when I realized that 90% of my
photography this past summer was with my film cameras (mostly a CLE and
Contax G1) The choice of film was as much (if not more so) for the light
weight and compact cameras as for the characteristics of film.

I had been disappointed in the past with Olympus' offerings as I thought
that they did not really leverage the 4/3 concept in terms of making the
cameras & lenses small and light. Over the past few years this has
certainly changed, and a number of the current bodies and lenses remind
me of the light, compact OM gear. I have been watching the 4/3 system
develop for years and the E-620 seemed to combine the handling, level of
control, and size & weight I that have been looking for. It appears that
this kit will be very well suited to the type of photography I have
always loved. I have not been this excited about a new camera purchase
in ages!

If the E-620 meets my expectations I will be adding some of the upper
end glass to the kit, but for now I think this kit will serve me well.
(I do plan on picking up the 9-18 before the rebate runs out at the end
of the month though!)
