Well,

I handled an E-P1 at a friends house today. What a horrible interface.
The settings system is truly unbelievable. A new user WILL be completely
baffled (and they were). For some reason impossible to choose focus
point while the
ring wheel is used for the marked functions, a horrid user manual, the
ring wheel which is moved to easily... art filters are sloooooooow.

If this would be my first contact with olympus I'ld run for another brand,
image quality or not. And the 17mm doesn't even offer that. I really hope
the next m4/3 will offer a viewfinder, better lens and buttons and menus.
Better even: reinvent the dedicated dial and analog settings (or that
nice ring canon has around the lens), Mode dial, NO light around the
on/off button.

The retro style is ok, but far worse than a Pen FT / XA
/OM/mju/epic/AF-1/... (designers rule: if you take something for
inspiration: improve on it or you will look rather silly).
Why don't they make a nice slick clean lined black or silver black
camera without all that glossy chrome? Why don't they understand that
this little fold in line at the edges of the original Maitani cameras
had usefull proportions for letting the camera look more elegant,
etc...

Sorry for the rant, but this camera really puts me off for the moment,
as much as I like the concept. It is not designed to be a tool, but to
impress its users, well I'm NOT impressed.
The interface gets in the way!

Iwert
