You really need to consider an external hard disk, RAW files give you much
more room for editing. I just purchased a 500GB/2.5" (the 8th 2.5" data hard
disk), not for RAW but for the thousands of negatives I'm scanning. I
decided to keep the the better one at 3000dpi 16bit (~65MB) instead of JPEG.
I found my taste change with time, I need the best format to prepare for
future editing.

Don't know how you add "red", I usually use curve tool, just sliding the RGB
bar is not a good solution. With RAW all you need to do is change the color
temperature and hue, it gives more natural look.
