If you dont mind opening it up, the easiest fix is to us a
sharp blade to scrap the conductive rubber button on
the rubber switch button.
Personally, and your Kilometerage may vary on this,
I wash the rubber mats in dish washing detergent, give
them a scrub with the kitchen brush, let them dry (then
scrap any that give problems) and put back in the
equiment I removed the mat from. After that they seem
to work fine for years until someone works the pizza
grease into them.
