This weekend we went to Michigan to see my 81 year old father get married.
It was a great time for all, and it was the first time in 16 years that all
of us siblings were together in once place at the same time.

I looked around and didn't see any photographer. Not that I really expected
one, but thought it a nice thing to ask. He said, nope. Would you like me
too? PLEASE!!! So, I quickly went out, grabbed my camera bag but realized I
left all my flash gear at home. Oldest brother is also a professional
photographer and did have a couple of SB800 flashes with Omnibounces, so I
borrowed one of them, set it on Auto, set the camera on manual and was
instantly in business.

Later, we did handful of group shots and I did borrow his Nikon for that as
everybody knows that pixels matter--and in this case where we had over 100
people in the group shot, the 5mp E-1 was way outclassed.

End result is a nice bit of coverage--a little more sparse than normal
paying wedding coverage of giddy teenagers, but all the critical stuff
covered.

So, the nutshell of this story is that I got to spend some quality time with
some latest/greatest Nikon gear. I have two thoughts that come to mind:
First thought is that the Nikon gear is REALLY nice and the autofocus is a
dream. Second thought is that when it comes down to brass tacks, a camera is
a camera is a camera. If I can't be successful with the lowly E-1, I'm not
going to be successful with the Nikon. But, I was dutifully impressed and am
aware of why Nikon is #1 right now.
