I've had a couple Logan boxes for perhaps 20 years. Mine have a handle on
the top which prevents stacking them on top of each other. The film itself
does not touch anything so there shouldn't be any problem with the plastic.
As of a couple years ago when I looked through them everything was fine. The
dividers shown in the picture might be slightly different from mine. I store
my Logan boxes in a drawer. I haven't seen any issue with dust. I doubt that
the box is tight enough to benefit from a desiccant placed inside of it. I
also began using plastic sheets several years ago so that I could quickly
look through them.

Best archival storage is a dark relatively dry space with no fumes. If you
place the film in a hostile environment, the box would probably need to be
more air tight than the Logan box and be maintained.

Duncan,

I have used the Logan boxes for year, but I am not thinking that they
are truly archival, I don't really trust the plastic tray that holds the
slides, they would also be fairly pricey for the amount of slides you
are talking about. They are not particularly dust tight either, but not bad.

The second solution looks to be more archival, and probably more
affordable, but a bit more difficult to get into.

I have fewer slides than you, and am in the process of moving them into
archival pages. I rarely view mine via projector anymore, and it is far
easier to find an individual slide (which I am more likely to do) when
they are in pages. Part of the process is to edit and toss the bad
slides as I am going through them.
