Hmmm,
I am not sure you toggled zebra mode on from the CHDK menu, if memory
serves.
I have the RGB histo to be drawn on half press and Zebra in RGB mode to
flash. RGB zebra is a toggle on and toggle off as well as zebra in
general.
It is on half press, so no chimp required. Black--all channels
overexposed, Red---red overexposed, etc. You can set the thresholds
for both over and underexposed areas and whether you want it to blink,
solid or striped. For horse use striped or blinking works, studying
the histo doesn't cut it
but is nice for other times. DOF calculator with hyperfocal distance
is nice, though admittedly with a small sensor not as useful as I
anticipated.
The G9 native firmware will flash overexposed areas and has live histo,
but having the underexposed areas show up is helpful.
I bet they will port the hack within 5 months. Price is right too.
:-) You used the most imp't features better than I did, as you needed
CHDK
for the RAW mode and made great use of it.

Not too much missing from the G11 that's important to me. I haven't
been
using the zebra mode - or have I? I'm not sure without looking. I
really
don't chimp much when using a camera I'm used to. RGB histogram would
be
nice, as would DOF. I'm not sure whether the more precise battery
condition indicators would be important, as I have yet to see how the
native one works.

Truth is, I haven't used all the other, fancy stuff. It'll be nice to
know it's there, but I'm in no hurry.
