Having looked at the E3 instruction book [page 123 refers] I am inclined to 
think that the RM-CB1 remote cable might be a better bet for me.

Any opinions Chris ?

You say that the max range for the RM-1 depends on which of the camera's 
sensors one is using.

I see the red self timer / remote control lamp / remote control receiver 
sensor above the lens release button. Which other sensors does the RM-1 work 
with ?
