Most of my (our) slides are in shelves too.

Our oldest slides (KM) are dated 1977 IIRC. Some are in binders, the rest in
their yellow boxes. I checked yesterday a few from 1979 -- look great.

IME, Agfa slides looked bad even right after developing :-(

That was the method I intended to use. It seemed great back then, but having
several thousand slides now, I'm no longer sure... Your hanging storage
seems interesting.
