Thanks, Chuck.  I have 2.5GB of memory and, normally, 30 to 80 emails from 
two photo lists, so this is probably the explanation.  It never seems to 
change, and Norton never finds problems, so I guess I will just live with 
it.  That is the only slow-down that I experience with Norton.
