Yup. So why don't you Macs shut up, enjoy your computers, get on with
your lives, stop proseletizing us PCs and let us get on with ours. I'm
tired of caving in and letting the Mac twaddle go on and on out of sheer
boredom.

That is such BS. I turn my computer on and it does stuff. If it doesn't
do enough stuff fast enough, I can buy a more powerful one. At least at
prices here, I could spend the same amount and get a Mac that does the
same stuff, but more slowly and/or less of it.

There was a time, quite some time ago now, when Apples had better
software for typography and artists. Long gone. They look different on
the outside and the OS interface looks a bit different and acts a a bit
different, but they do the same stuff.

They're toasters, mate. If the toast is good, who cares what the name on
the toaster is?

I think it's all about style and artsy fartsy smoke.

Get off that, please. It is a WD HD hardware/software issue. Nothing to
do with the brand of computer or OS.

I agree; like I said, toasters.

There was a time where it was a bit like that. Certain computers and OSs
did make an actual difference in what one could do and how
fast/effectively. I've been using computers for business and pleasure
for something over 40 years. Some of the work was really intense and
heavy duty. For personal computers, I started with an Apple II+, for
work, an IBM XT shortly after they came out and have been through what
seems like countless others since. I started the first network in a
Fortune 500 company that gave birth to the huge intranet that they have
today.

There were many years when what I needed to "just get on with" couldn't
be done effectively, in some cases, couldn't be done at all, on Apples,
while PCs were powerful tools. If I'd been in publishing, or a graphic
artist, the reverse would have been true. The past is past. They use the
same processors and the hardware is very similar. The OSs and apps do
all the same stuff.

I've used friends Macs. They work fine, but it takes me longer to do
stuff, and irritates me, not because one OS is better than another,
because I know how to do things under one and it's different to do them
under the other.
