Thanks for that intervention and explanation, Joel.

It wasn't meant to read as an arrogant, throwaway line. and I'm sorry that it
did. The <whisper> was intended to ameliorate it, but I suppose that that
didn't recognise that there was a real problem that you were trying to deal
with.

I suppose it seems to "us"(Mac users) that the solution to a problem is not so
difficult as the "change of platform" (to a Mac) description would seem. Moose
is a programmer and would not want to use another system even if he didn't love
Vista; but for an ordinary user like me, and you (I suspect) a change of
platform seems pretty simple. We all did change a few years ago when OSX came
out. There are now more common features than uncommon, I think.

I am glad that your monitor is working without warnings. I find it hugely
frustrating when systems have glitches that I cannot solve. For instance,
Fernando's errors in copying files rang a bell with me. If permissions get
mucked up (technical Mac term ;-)) between volumes the copying, syncing or
backing up process fails, piecemeal. I started to suggest this (repairing
permissions) as a solution when Moose sounded off about Mac users so I decided
to withdraw my advice.

On the subject of DVI, my wife's Samsung is a digital one so I bought her the
requisite adaptor for connecting to her Mac mini; I could see no difference at
all.

I'll try to choose more appropriate occasions for mentioning Macs, but I claim
the right to do so in the future ... :-)
