I can't quite figure out Newegg. By locating in Calif., they are subject
to inventory taxes and their sales to Calif. are subject to sales tax.
If they located across the border in Nev., their cost of doing business
would be lower and their effective prices to residents of the largest
state would be lower. I've never bought from Newegg because of the
almost 10% tax.
B&H and Adorama are in much the same boat for NY residents, but there
are historical and religious/cultural reasons to be there. I've thought
Newegg is a start-up, but perhaps it too grew from a bricks and mortar
store.
Amazon has a major warehouse on I-80 just over the border. Most things I
buy from them arrive in a day or two with their free shipping.
