One of my favorite nude books is A Body by John Coplans. He shot his
own body for thirty years, from his early fifties onwards. It's mostly
not that pretty but is revealing, touching and displays a wonderful
sense of humour. I picked up a copy really cheaply from a local shop
that specialises in remaindered lines so it's probably out of print.
It has no 'classic poses'. :-)
Studio pinholing is tricky - it requires a huge amount of light.
Placing a model one metre away from a big, vertical Bowens strip light
driven by a floor pack on full power gives me 1/30th sec @ 1600 iso!
The dump is strong enough to blind the model - hence mostly body
studies. There's a distinctive 'whoomp' from the two heads in the
light. Plus you are shooting blind of course. I may put a gallery
together.
Thanks for commenting.
