Mike recently posted:
"Seems you use it with both the autotube and bellows from construction
images.
Had read that bellows are not very good for field work--think I'll
discard the notion
now, lest you say otherwise."
    Yes, I use both the single tubes (7, 14, 25mm), the 65-116
telescoping auto extension tube, and the bellows. Or no extension at
all, as when I photographed a male and female sea lamprey building a
redd ("nest" for spawning) in the gravel in water about 2 1/2' deep.
(This was one of the most astonishing activities I've ever watched.)
When I'm using the bellows, the bottom of the housing is quite close to
the rock, log, whatever the insect subject is on, and I often have my
hand or fist between the housing bottom and the rock. This really
provides a steady mount, especially with the end of the monopod in the
streambed and my hand or fist under the bottom of the housing. Sort of
a bipod set-up, I guess. Yes, Mike, the bellows, when used in my
housing, at least, is quite amenable to field use.
Thanks for the kind words, Mike!
