I got the following response back and followed up with the additional
info about having been generated with Win98 and the drop shadow from
PhotoShop.

Hi, Chuck. Not an obvious font, I'm afraid. I'm not used to being
stumped with fonts.

I thought that the results that WhatTheFont gave you were way off base.
I tried the same thing that you tried, but removed the outlines and
shadows from the sample first, and got this list:

    Ticketbook Light
      from Suomi Ticketbook

    Tutu One
      from FontHaus Tutu One

    Narrowband Prime ICG Bold
      from Image Club Narrowband Prime

    Roswell Three ITC
      from Monotype Imaging ITC Roswell

    Roswell Three ITC
      from Linotype ITC Roswell

That seemed slightly better, but none were correct. Actually, none were
even very close.

I'll do some more digging, but it's certainly not a well-known or
classic font. I don't usually come up empty like this, but there are
many thousands of fonts that get sold or given away these days, many of
which don't have a lot to recommend them. The best of the classic fonts
took designers several years to develop, and have now lasted for several
hundred years. These days, we're seeing fonts that a high school student
has put together on their computer in an afternoon, and there are many,
many of them, usually with a very limited circulation. And these
font-of-the-day offerings don't get distributed or cataloged by the
major font foundries - you won't see them at MyFonts or ITC or Adobe or
Linotype - so they become hard or nearly impossible to track down
without a name.

I think that your friend could do better for a logo font, but I realize
that that doesn't answer the question. I'll keep this one in mind, and
if I can find a match, I'll let you know.

With regards,
-McGrew
