Ken,

As some of you may know, I extensively shot a Canon 1D Mk II N before
throwing out all
digital, and even though my testing with a friend has generally
indicated that the
1-series had superior colour, tonal separation and dynamic range, it
all-in-all
rendered quite similar to the 40D, so I know what you are talking about.

The recoverable highlights of these cameras are in a completely
different class to
any four-thirds body yet made, though in general the colour was not as
great, it
almost always needed a bit of post-processing.

Still, I have to say, I do find now with B&W film that, assuming
exposure is correct to
place the greatest tonal separation ("contrast") where you need it,
the highlight range is
simply near-unlimited, truly a couple of stops better than ay RAW file
I have yet seen.
(I shoot Ilford FP4 and HP5 mostly)

Grain is a pain in the arse for many shots when shooting 35mm film,
but simply not an issue
whatsoever with 6x7cm film.

Anyway, all this babbling about film, is that I believe that you, as
one of the OM system's biggest
proponents, should also throw in a dynamic range test of your OM-3Ti
loaded with some of your
favourite films, just for fun.

It's been done a million times before, but so has what you have done
already, so it'll be
good fun. But you should do it all-analogue - I do believe that an all-
analogue workflow, where
one is printing non-linear film on non-linear paper, is the only way
to show the true "shades"
of the film medium.

Looking forward to it... :-)
