...ever been to a maple syrup production facility in Quebec or Nova Scotia ?
The last one I went to in Nova Scotia had upwards of 10,000 mature maple
trees in the woods all hooked up together with 3/4 to 1" bore plastic piping
collecting the sap. 100 gallons of sap are boiled away down to 1 gallon and
that 1 gallon is the "maple syrup". The in-the-woods production facilities
are pretty primitve and basic .............. just a water boiling operation
fed by wood fired furnaces consuming eight foot long semi-split seasoned
fire logs !
