Chuck,
http://www.cameraquest.com/min7s2.htm has a good description of a camera
which is almost a clone of the S3. The Revue 400 SE is another similar
model. http://mattdentonphoto.com/cameras/vivitar_35es.html is a another
member of the family... The S2 is much bulkier than the S3 but has its own
charms. A fine lens and it meters in manual mode. The S2 also shows meter
readings on the top deck so you can set the shutter, aperture and hyperfocal
setting before bringing it to your eye. iIt makes it a little stealthier,
but it has a noisy ratcheting film advance. The S2 has parallax correction
frame lines, something the S3 lacks. I just picked up as 7SII at a thrift
store for $9.54. I like the S2 viewfinder and rangefinder patch much more
than the 7SII and by inference the S3 and its siblings.
All fine cameras, everyone should own a few :) I am a bit crazy and have
the Olympus 35SP, Canon QL17 , Minolta 7SII, Konica S2, a (bought
unknowingly broken) Konica S3. Leica III, FED 5B, Rapid Omega 100, Olympus
RC, Olympus XA and a Ilford Advocate (it's not really a rangefinder). I
should really join the rangefinder forum someday...

I tried to find an on-line manual for the Konica Auto S3 to find out
what's so special about it. But I only found one for the S2. What's
the difference and why so coveted?
