[OM] ( OM) DZ 14-54 ... macro mode

One or two days ago Ken wrote about this lens in macro mode. He said, as I
recall, that in macro mode it could get so close to the subject that the lens
hood would (almost?) shade the subject.

I can find no such mode of operation built in to my DZ 14-54.

Can Ken (or anybody) please explain how this lens can focus so close?

Here in NZ it is autumn again and the weather is beautiful, sunny and warm.
I spent close to 4 hours photographing in Christchurch city this morning;
mostly autumn foliage, but some street shots. I'm back to my last year's
complaints about the inability of digital (e-3 in this instance) to cope with
high-lit autumn leaves. But I DID get some good shots, and this time I also
brought with me an OM4Ti + Z 35-105 + Fuji Reala, and used a whole 36-
shot roll - a lot for me in one day. In street scenes, the range of contrast
between sunlit and shadow parts of a scene was huge and quite beyond the
ability of he E-3 to cope. Just not enough cloud around to lighten the
shadows.
