This is my choice <http://www.dwaynesphoto.com/newsite2006/slide-film.html>
It's not terribly large, is about in the middle of the price range, does
ambient, flash (and especially important to me) it reports the
percentage of flash vs ambient in 10% increments. That makes fill flash
a piece of cake since when the flash is 20-30% of the exposure you have
good fill lighting ( I prefer 20% rather than 30). It has good battery
life (a year or two) and (with its optional radio module) can also
trigger Pocket Wizard receivers. I don't use Pocket Wizards (even
though I have the optional module) since it's easy to attach your chosen
transmitter via a short PC cable.

The only thing I don't like is that the rotary exposure change dial
seems to have the wrong sense of direction. It turns to the right for
increasing exposure but that means that shutter speeds and focal ratios
are going down. I know it and have always known it but I almost
invariably turn the dial in the wrong direction the first time. :-)
