Thanks for those snippets, Ken.

My musician son took to wearing earplugs on the insistence of his college, but 
only after he had inflicted a fair amount of noise on his ears on occasions 
over a couple of years.  Consequently he has tinnitus which can be loud enough 
to keep him awake.

With all this discussion of hearing and hearing loss, I am starting to feel 
symptoms of hearing loss ... :-)
