The L1 has satisfied me for over three years and 38,000 takes (make  
the sums and consider how much the savings may compensate for the want  
of a bright view finder) - fully manual when needed full auto when not.
On board focus confirmation (sound and light), without an add-on chip.
Live view and x10 magnification for absolute precision if required.
Total cheap these days.
I use Pana, Leica, Angenieux, and Oly glass on it.
Major flaw? 7.5mp, which was good when it came out, but no longer fits  
the bill.
