Everything. The roadhouses in Western Australia can be up to 250km  
apart and there is NOTHING in between. I remember seeing a side road  
that said something like 'Potter Station', 120km. That's a long hard  
dirt road to reach the 'farm'.
Typically they'll have a motel, cafe, service station, general store,  
camping area, accommodation for staff and so on as they service a  
small area. People live out there but they tend to be hiding from  
something or someone - or they're a bit strange. Or both. This is a  
land where the trucks drag five or six trailers and the roadkill is a  
dead steer by the roadside. In fact, you don't drive at night as  
hitting a big animal on the road can kill you.
They'll hose anything down and there isn't a thing that they haven't  
seen.
