I have never encountered a Rattlesnake, but my grandfather's evil old cat
killed them a couple of times! She used to bring the heads back to grandpa.

I have photographed a couple of garter snakes, which you can see here:

The brown one tried to bite me, he was mean, but when the cat jumped on the
aquarium I put him in after I caught him, he got scared and hid in the
little house! We kept him overnight and released him the next day.
