The M8 is not particularly waterproof, in fact mine had to be repaired because
last year I was in the habit of having it around my neck when cycling along the
beach, and apparently I had dripped enough sweat on it to corrode the insides
of the on/off switch. It was fixed without charge under Leica's Passport
warranty.
The picture in question, however, was taken with the GF-1 and 20mm pancake. I
have no idea how waterproof this is, but my guess is that it is no better than
the Leica. If you want waterproof in the digital world, you need to go to the
high-end Canons. I used to have an 1D Mark 2 which handled any Amsterdam rain
with no problem (assuming the lens I had mounted was also weatherproof).
