I hadn't noticed the busy bokeh at first.  I added a layer, then gave it 
a guassian blur of 2.8 pixels, added a mask, painted over all with black 
paint using the paint bucket, switched back to white paint and a brush 
with about 70% opacity and painted over the bad bokeh and most of the 
other background areas which fixed up the poor bokeh.

On a full size image it will require a larger blur radius to do the 
same.  After cropping to print size, viewing on screen at 25-30% 
magnification fairly well simulates the effect you'll see on a print. 
Same goes for sharpening.
