Most went by hydrofoil back in the 1971 - 75 period. Setting off from the
terminal in Western District on HK Island the hydrofoil was soon up on its
wings and hitting at least 60mph. I can't imagine a bridge covering the same
distance across the mouth of the Pearl River estuary. Even more amazing
would be auto traffic back and forth from HK to a place with a population
density of close on 50,000/ square mile.
