And no one caught my error in attempting to correct the first error.  I 
said the square root of two was a multiplier for the area.  It is but 
must be applied to the radius of the aperture to arrive at the area.  No 
excuse for that one.  I'd already had 4 mugs of coffee.

I think my mind was distracted by thinking about going to do battle with 
the Buick dealer this morning.  Long story.
