I think you are just picking on me, Charlie...:)

Kidding...How did you know that I was going to talk about the Bridgestone
tires?  I did my research at the time and the news that you can barely get 20K
from the Revo's was not out yet.  Dont know what they cost now, but they werent
exactly cheap when I bought them, I think it was something like $150 a tire.

They were fantastic.. the first 5K.  Then they started to get really loud.  The
tread was there at 20K but they were all cracked and spun at stop lights and I
do drive like a granma...

Then at 23K the cah developed the infamous "death wobble", that is, when you
hit an imperfection on the road, your steering starts to violently oscillate.

Changed them with General AT2 and am happy for now.

On the VW, I had Pirelli P4000, which is not only not all season tire, but also
cracked and warped in less than three years, dont remember the mileage
tho...doubt that it was more than 30-35K.  I will be buyng tires soon, not
ready yet.  If anyone recalls, this was the last picture taken of it:

Wifey was in it and she was hit by someone who doesnt know that must yeld to
the oncomming traffic when making a left turn...I bought it back from the
insurance bloodsuckers and am slowly fixing it, but the process has been
painfully slow since my son needed to get into a super expensive private school
and money is tight.  Fixing it isnt on the wifes priority list, since she
got herself a shiny Mazda3 and at present money is allocated to a complete
bathroom redo.  Of course, to save money we do the work...sari, this means the
work has been relegated to me.  Maybe thats why  in the 19 years I have been
here, I was able to go back to BG only once...and I really love it there, but I
guess I should stop with the rant.

Back to tires, now when I think about it, the reality is that I never drove car
long enough to wear the tires out with the two exceptions of couse, which were
a complete failure.

Best

Boris

Not sure I agree with that statement Boris, but they do vary greatly. In
my experience the OEM tires don't last very long; in my case the Bridgestone
Duelers that came on my CR-V lasted about 40K miles and I was lucky
(comments on Tirerack complained they couldn't get 20K out of them). I
replaced them four years ago with Bridgestone Potenza and I got 87K miles
out of that set. Of course I drive like your granma's granma. Still have
original brake pads at 138000 miles.
