If it had been a G1, then there are hacks available to remove that "feature"
from the firmware, John, by the same team that produced the CHDK hack for
C*non P&S, as used by Moose.
But I have a feeling that the G2 firmware is encrypted.

$38 is expensive? Sounds reasonable. You could probably save $20 by buying
some cheap piece of junk on ebay but what's the use if it dies after 20
shots (spoken from experience)?
On the other hand, all cards are made in the same Chinese factory, so just
buy whatever is cheapest at the local Media Markt or Office Depot or
whatever you have where you live.
