Wayne,
Manually focusing any of the longer lenses on the E-1 is no problem.
Focusing on a flitting target is a challenge. I focused on the wing detail,
and probably should have stopped down a little for more DoF, but 1/250 with
the equivalent of an 800mm reach seemed to be about as far as I could go,
without raising ISO.
