Yes!
Back by popular demand, Vert has been seen again! I reversed the
frontal lobotomy and reinstalled the 2X optic core back in this
faithful little friend. Didn't quite get the position correct, so the
focus of the attached lens was way off, but somehow that seemed to
improve the sharpness and chromatic abberations, so go figure.
Vert got put on the back of Big Toke, the Tokina AT-X 100-300 F4 zoom.
The two seem to be made for each other. It was a little shaky at
first, since Vert is a wimpy little guy, but instead of a big heavy
camera hanging off the back, the L1 served duty.
Here is what Vert has to say about it: "It was exciting to be used
for something important again. Mr. N. hasn't used me for anything
other than close-up work, but even that dried up because Manuel de
Extensión has entered the camera bag illegally, and that's ended work
for us honest folks. Well, anyway, at least I outlasted Toky! Good
riddence old bean. I did like working with Big Toke. He's a strange
kinda guy and not too sharp at F4 in the morning, but between 5 and 8
he's OK. Maybe I can arrange a trip to Arizona... Hmm..."
Oh, the results!
