No, things were reproduced at other resolutions, but the one that worked
best for most images on most presses operated by most operators printed on
most papers without duotoning or duo black was 150. Art books and photo
books were/are often proudced with more elaborate processes. Remember
Lenswork magazine?

That's what the magazine article said: 2 x 150 line pairs.  The author also
said that it was only a rule of thumb, not for slavish adherence.  But then
we knew that . . .
