Well, I had a major success at work today. One of those "yee haa"
moments combined with attaboys from up the food chain.
I designed two extremely large Layer-1/Layer-2 10 GbE (multiple)
networks combined with a full deployment of DWDM and had the designs
accepted and funded without debate. I even was allowed to select the
vendor! This is a network design covering two states.
Whew! In case you don't understand the lingo, it's a honkin big,
state-of-the-art, fiber-optic system capable of making angels sing.
It's the biggest/baddest network I've ever designed and the basic
design of it came together in about two hours. It defines our entire
fiber-optic network for years to come. Presentation document was 12
pages long with probably another 50 pages in support documentation.
I'm tired, but now the real fun begins. I'd rather be taking pictures,
but this day job ain't too shabby either.
