Yep, totally agree.  Not any reason it couldn't be done with ease.  I 
have the CHDK hack  set to give hyperfocal distance calculation  at 
half press, but rarely have a dof issue with the small sensor--can
think of missing only a few times off hand due to that.  It could even 
change it for the lens if necessary--eg. quite a bit of  field 
curvature in the ZE Zeiss 28 f2 and may benefit from stopped down a 
stop more  than one would think for a hyperfocal type of shot.  Perhaps 
it adds to the 3D'ness in some shots but can a pain in others.
Wish Zeiss had the tables with an F-stop option so one did not have to 
guess what effect the T-stop has in the calculation comparison between 
the full wave solution and thin lens assumption.  In any event aperture 
and magnification are not the ONLY  factors in dof calculation though 
the
magnitude of the other effects may not be dramatic.
