Depending on the product. I have just arrived at my in-laws' in Puerto Rico, 
where a Fuji GW690 rangefinder was waiting from me (I had bought it from 
someone in Utah in November, and he was not willing to ship outside the US). 
When I arrived last night, I simply looked at the thing, guessed which button 
opened the back, and loaded a roll of 120 film without the need to consult any 
manual. Of course it helps that I have previous experience with various MF 
cameras and this one is extremely simple--it does not even have a light meter!
