Where does one see this? I certainly haven't seen anything labeled like that
in a store. I understood that stuff went to processors so I suppose it could
be available in prepared ready to cook sstuff in places like Sams Club, but
I have a friend that deals in meat, mainly trimmings that go to a major
manufacturer of deli meats. He has said that there is no such thing as safe
hamburger, by the way, unless you grind it yourself.

Choice also requires a bit of intelligence and understanding of what's on
offer. The fact that this crap can be called something innocuous can be
misleading. Who'd have thought mechanically recovered beef trimmings could
be labelled:

Finely Textured Beef (FTB), Lean Finely Textured Beef (LFTB), Premium Black
Angus <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angus_cattle> Finely Textured Beef
(PBAFTB), Angus Finely Textured Beef (AFTB), Beef Trimmings, Finely Textured
(BTFT) and Partially Defatted Chopped Beef (PDCB)
