I'm finding the description of your problem hard to follow.

I think what you said is that you copy an image's file name from your
website and paste that file name into the windows file search dialog
box. Then despite a clearly valid file name the file is not found.

According to the file name description in the E-510 user's manual the
first character of the name is either "P" or "_" (indicating color
space), then one character for month (1, 2, 3... A, B C), two digits for
day of month and 4 digits for a sequential image number which wraps back
to 0001 after 9999.

Since you know what subfolders are used for the E-510 and since the
files have a date ordering implicit in their structure it should be easy
to locate the folder that *should* contain the missing file by
displaying folder file contents in ascending name order. If not found
then the next question is where are the files that immediately preceded
and followed this one. If those files exist or at least exist in most
cases then it would appear that you have somehow explicitly deleted the
missing files. If many of the files that should surround the missing
file are also missing then something more sinister is to be suspected.
