I too use the GF1. I recently acquired two cameras. The advantage they
have for stereo is that they take an external remote oo now I have two that
I am going to join soon. (The newer GF2 has dropped the remote plug).

Another advantage: The tripod socket is centered right at the center of the
lens. So I can put two cameras bottom-to-bottom (so they come as close as
possible) perfectly aligned with only one single piece of 1/4"x20 piece of
screw. The spacing of the lenses in this configuration is around 65mm which
is perfect for general use.

Another advantage: Use of the 3d lens (even though it does not
"communicate" with this model)

Final potential? advantage: I am having a specialist see if he can separate
the accessory viewfinder from the body (Panasonic does not offer a cable for
this). If this is possible, then one can separate the cameras for
hyperstereo, and use a pair of viewfinders next to each other as a stereo
viewer and actually visualize the stereo effect (and decide on the separate
of the cameras or align them on separate tripods or do remote 3d
photography).

For me, the new Olympus Pen (E-PL2) is the threat to my ownership of the
GF1.
