It's only happened once (after about 200 shots and 4 or 5 uses) but,
just in case your wife or daughter should encounter it, my own WB650
locked up on me and became totally unresponsive even to the power
button. I had to reboot it by pulling and reinstalling the battery. I
also lost one file from that session which I assume (but don't know) was
probably coincident with the lockup. I didn't notice the lost file
until I tried to review it somewhat later which produced a file error
message on the first try. After that the image number just disappeared
from the sequence.

Moose says he has seen no such problem and has a lot more shooting
history with his than I do. Let's hope my one experience was an
outlier. But that wouldn't keep me from buying the camera again. I
managed to buy a small leather belt-clip case with two pouches that just
exactly fits the WB650 and my cell phone. Now I carry the camera and
phone wherever I go. It's a big switch for me to have a camera all of
the time.
