Which is a rather brutal condemnation of Olympus. Here we are an
Olympus list and we're not even sure that there are as many or more
Olympus digital users among us as Canon users. "I suspect..." is a sad
statement as we don't really know.

However,

I just added a POLL on www.zone-10.com asking this various question.
PLEASE go visit the site and cast your vote. While there, you'll see
the second installment of "Zooming on Zone-10" by Michel Szulc
Krzyzanowski.

I suspect that the focus screen in your 5D conspired against you as
the factory installed one was particularily weak in that department.
(That's why there was another screen available). The focus screen in
the E-1 is actually very good for manually focusing--probably a little
easier on the "ground glass" area than the 2-series screens in the OM
bodies. BTW, the screens in the 1Ds cameras are also pretty good for
manually focusing.
