Assuming the transmitter didn't change it's broadcasting power, the
actual signal level you're receiving won't really change.  However,
digital is much less tolerant of a noisy signal.  I'm sure there's
some amount of error correction, but even if the tuner can deal with,
to make up some numbers, a 5% error rate, then it's likely that only a
10% error rate would make the signal unusable.  On an analog signal,
this would probably be just a bit snowy.

And, unless the Canadian station is in the middle of nowhere, it looks
like you've only got until 31 August before they get switched to
digital too.
