Wiki says there are 220 species of cicada in Oz, most in the tropical 
north.  I checked the details on the 3 species noted there.  One is on a 
7 year cycle.  The other two apparently appear annually although there 
is a comment for one of them that numbers vary dramatically from year to 
year.
