I have been looking at Canon chipped lens adapters and some of them now support
"micro-focus", which allows you to fine tune the adapter for a particular
legacy glass lens, so that when using manual focus assist, the lens can be used
to focus more accurately.   Not all bodies support micro-focus, but the newer
bodies with live view do, along with the upper tier bodies.

There is an excellent tutorial on adjusting/testing Canon lenses for optimum
sharpness using micro-focus settings here:
http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/cameras/1ds3_af_micoadjustment.html

Using the method disclosed with moire patterns, you should actually be able to
test any cameras autofocus ability.
I have not played with doing this, but it seems a good idea for testing any
digital cameras focus ability.

According to here
http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/reviews/photography/spyderlenscal.html
the E620 and E30 support focus adjustments.
