I've had probably one of the most liberating experiences which will be sure
to offend some, but raise cheers from others.

Since deciding that my next DSLR will be a Canon, it's like a whole new
world of opportunity has opened up. Instantly gone is the frustration of
seeing gadget/lens/flash/doodad not able to fit on my cameras. Gone is the
"I gotta skimp by with whatever I can scrounge" mentality. I can now
borrow/rent/guilt-trip anything I need or want. Is the Canon gear that much
better? Nope. Not at all. But it is the defacto-standard.

However Canon and Nikon became to be the defacto-standard is open to debate,
but the fact is they are. As a professional photographer and host of a
website that profits from getting as many eyes as possible to look at it,
I'm foolish for trying to squig along on the fringes of society.

The above comments ONLY apply to DSLRs, though. The OM system ain't going
nowhere and is already about perfect.
