CRT? I belive the problem is mainly due to the monitor. I was using a 17" 
Sony CRT since 2003, when I switched to my current 17" EIZO I found many 
previously saved JPEG files has lots of artifacts which was not visible with 
the CRT and the image was much sharper with the LCD.
