Mosquito's were attacked by termites and they arguably used the technology 
first...a thin layer of ply, balsa core, then another layer of ply...way before 
their time  ;-)>

And you've just made it worse by going even further away from the pun. 
I don't know any termites that can drill through carbon composites to 
get to the delicious balsa wood inside.  Oh, wait!  Maybe Formosan 
termites can.
